Combining classic Japanese blade shapes with traditional European knife designs, the Shun Classic 6" Utility Knife can be used for a wide variety of specialized styles for any cutting task. Artisans make this knife by drawing on ancient Japanese samurai sword making traditions that include handmade blades of exceptional beauty and strength. Every knife is handcrafted by skilled artisans and the production process requires over 100 steps from beginning to end. Each blade has an inner core of VG-10 "super steel' clad with 16 layers of stainless Damascus for an exceptionally sharp and smooth result. The resulting blade pattern is called suminigashi, or "ink pattern,' after a traditional Japanese paper-decorating technique. Patterned layers also offer durability while resisting stains. Superior edge retention ensures that knives stay optimally sharp. Moisture-resistant black PakkaWood handle is D-shaped for comfort and control. Hand wash with mild soap. Made in Seki City, Japan.
